| MARKER DEDICATION & The STEENRAPIE ENCAMPMENT: General Washington in Bergen County in 1780 - Sept 2005 Commemorating the 225th Anniversary of the Revolutionary War The day began with the Soldier Hill (Lafayette Encampment) Historic Blue Marker Dedication in Oradell. Carol Messer, Director Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs and Oradell Mayor Frederick LaMonica welcomed the crowd. Dennis McNerney, BC Executive, Bernadette P. McPherson, Freeholder Chairwoman, David L. Ganz, Freeholder Vice Chairman, Elizabeth Calabrese, Freeholder, made opening remarks. Dr. Isabell Darnis Wilhelm, Honorary Consul of France, Mathieu Petijean, President, American Society of Le Souvenir Francais, Inc. also spoke. Ann Reynolds represented the Book & Needle Club of Oradell, who sponsored the original marker. Todd Braisted's historical perspective is repeated here.
