I am researching John Tipper who was married to Charlotte Harrison, John was living in Englewood by the 1870's and he married Charlotte after 1881. John had a butcher shop and also ran a market.
Taken from the book “The Book Of Englewood” page 304
“St. Paul’s church lost two devoted membes this year. John Tipper, who had been a resident of Englewood for about fifty years, died on December 7th at the age of 76. For thirty years he had conducted a market on Palisade avenue so successfully that he had been able to retire from business twelve years before his death. Mr. Tipper was born in Quebec, April 25th, 1840, coming to Englewood about 1866. In his will Mr. Tipper made bequests of $500 each to his church, to Tuscan lodge, and to the library, and the remainder to the hospital. All these were to be paid after the death of his wife, who had a life interest in the estate. Mrs. Tipper survived her husband barely a fortnight.”
Families connected according to John's will are Taylor, Argabrite, Elliott, Martin & Unkles.
I would really like to connect with someone who may know something about the Tipper's.
