I am researching a history of the American Revolution, and have done very well in finding manuscripts in  Philadelphia and New York, plus the NJ state archives, Princeton Univ, Rutgers. But I know little about  what documents may be available in North Jersey.
My goal is to finish a book that relies solely or substantially on manuscripts from 1740-1785, so any obscure library or college is good.  Your thoughts on finding colonial or revolutionary war manuscripts in north jersey or (lower) upstate New York is most appreciated. fell free to contact me directly at williammonk@ymail.com
