Historian Hans Niederstrasser will present on Peter Hasenclever and the American Iron Company and Iron mining in the Long Pond and Ringwood area.

Peter Hasenclever's major accomplishment in America was the establishment in the provinces of NJ and NY of a complete iron industry based on the latest technology available at the time. Hasenclever founded Long Pong Iron Work in 1766.

We know by Erskine's writings that they were shipping to New Bridge by way of ox cart. We have a fragment bar of pig iron with "LON" Long Pond, on exhibit that was found in a 1967 dig of the New Bridge Landing wharf.
