About the Event
As author of “Images of America” books on Teaneck (2020), Bergenfield (2023) and New Milford (2025), I’ll be speaking not about the history of those towns but how I go about chronicling a town’s history pictorially. I’ll describe the process of putting together such a book: Where do the photographs come from? Who do I reach out to? What sort of photographs do I look for – actual or digital? How do I choose which photographs to use? How do I arrange them? (Unlike other authors of these books, I do so chronologically). How do I research the captions? How do I let folks know I’m doing a book on their town? A lot of thought and legwork goes into producing an “Images of America” pictorial history – I’ll walk you through it.
