About the Event

The Bergen County Historical Society (BCHS) invites the public to join us this Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th at 10 am - 11 am.

Each year the society honors the U.S. veterans of all wars who fought and died in service for our country with a wreath laying at the grave of General Enoch Poor in the burial ground of the First Dutch Reformed Church on the Green.

This year BCHS VP Scott Barone will speak on General Enoch Poor followed by a tour of the historic cemetery with BCHS Past President Deborah Powell including a grave survey handout. Burials began in 1696 and the cemetery is on the National Register. The late BCHS historian Reginald McMahon estimated 21 veterans of the American Revolution are interred in this ancient burying ground.

Location: First Dutch Reformed Church in Hackensack, 42 Court Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601.

Street parking. No tickets or reservations required.
