Come to Historic New Bridge Landing for the 250th anniversary of the Retreat to Victory on Sunday, November 22, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Start the day with BCHS Past President Jim Smith as he reads The American Crisis at the New Bridge. Step back to November 21, 1776, and watch George Washington (John Koopman, General Greene and other generals on horseback, leading American troops across the bridge that saved a nation. See them escape the British advance and defend the crossing from the King’s forces.

Reenactors will be on site all day, demonstrating military drills and sharing what life was like for soldiers in the Revolution. All three 18th century Jersey-Dutch sandstone houses, including the historic 1752 Steuben House, will be open for tours. Inside the Steuben House, explore Revolutionary War artifacts from the society’s collection, including a recently donated 1778 powder horn cover in scrimshaw. Featured…
