Start off the holiday season at Historic New Bridge Landing as the Bergen County Historical Society celebrates Sinterklaas Day on Sunday December 4th 1 pm-3 pm.
All three 18th century Jersey-Dutch sandstone houses including the state historic 1752 Steuben House will be open for tours throughout the day.
Be on the lookout for Sinterklaas and stop to take your photo with him.
At 2 pm in the Campbell-Christie House BCHS Trustee Ariel Woll will be giving a Hanukkah presentation. She will demonstrate how the menorah is lit and will explain more about the history, traditions, and customs of the holiday.
Be sure to stop by The Blackhorse Inn to enjoy donuts, hot cider, and other seasonal treats.
Don’t forget to visit the Society’s authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen where interpreters will be making soft waffles using a waffle iron, Dutch banket letters using puff pastry that is filled with almond paste, and other Dutch holiday goodies.
Activities for families include pinecone bird feeder and ornament making throughout the afternoon.
Ticket reservations for the 40th Annual Colonial Christmas Concerts featuring Linda Russell and Companie will also be on sale.
