About the Event
Zoom meeting to share info about the Zabriskie/Zobriskie families that lived at New Bridge, two different families that descended from two brothers, Jacob (b. 1679) and Jan (b. 1681 approx) and their relatives.
Sharing here a chart of the two brothers whose descendants either built the Zabriskie Steuben House and/or lived in it (in what's now River Edge, NJ).
Albrecht Zabrowskij came to New Amsterdam on The Fox in 1662. The Zabriskies became a prominent landowning family that married into the Jersey Dutch culture of Bergen County. The Zabriskie Steuben House is a NJ State Historic Site and BCHS was invited to make our HQ here in 1939. This mansion house saw action/activities throughout the American Revolution.
Will share photos, location maps and sources.
It's a work in progress for discussion (I've continued to update to a final version ready now, below) - Deborah Powell
